Historic Timeline
Cook County Recorder of Deeds, Chicago City Hall
The office of the Cook County Recorder of Deeds was established in 1831. Since it's establishment it has contributed
significantly throughout the history of the county and city of Chicago. During floods and fires, thousands of documents
and photographs were kept intact and are a magnificent testiment to American history.
Our part was to design a rich and visually captivating historic timeline within the allotted space. Many images were
significantly old and had to be retouched and formatted for a much larger scale - several Recorders were not photographed
which created the need for the side list of all recorders and a way to identify which ones are not amongst the faces displayed. With the relatively small space with so much interesting history to include, it was vital to create a contained piece that didn't appear to be overly dense.
